The ABSC Booster Club is an parent group whose mission is to work with the coaches to coordinate meets and other events at ABSC. Every parent who has a swimmer on the team is eligible to be a member. The Booster Club is administered by a board consisting of a chairman, six coordinators (each of whom is responsible for a particular area of oversight) and three to five members at large. A breakdown of the Booster Board and their areas of responsibility is below. If you have questions regarding any non-swimming issues, or are interested in volunteering in a particular capacity, please fee free to contact the appropriate board member directly.
Chair: Al Cave
The Booster Board Chair is responsible for coordinating the actions of the Board and serving as a liaison between the coaches and the Board. Please contact the Chair directly if you have an idea or a concern that you believe the board needs to take up during one of its monthly meetings.
Volunteer Coordinator: Susan Kasay
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for lining up volunteers to help at ABSC events, particularly home swim meets. In order to put on the average dual meet the club needs 18 timers, 5 to 10 officials, an announcer, a Colorado Timing System operator, and a Hy-Tek computer operator. Invitationals such as the Senior Circuit Meet require ribbons/awards workers, hospitality volunteers, and heat sheet sellers in addition to all of the above. An email asking for volunteers is sent out from one to three weeks before a home meet. It is essential that parents who are able to help contact the Volunteer Coordinator.
Swim-a-Thon Coordinator: Grace Lu
The Swim-a-thon Coordinator will oversee this annual event and serve as a liaison between the club, the coaches, and the vendor chosen. He or she will coordinate the event theme and prize orders and distribution. If you have questions about this annual event, please contact the Swim-a-thon Coordinator.
Officials Coordinator: Kathleen Schmaltz
The Officials Coordinator serves as a liason between the club and the LSC. He or she is responsible for recruiting new officials from among the parents in the club and arranging for their training. At home meets he or she works with the meet director to ensure that all the officials' positions are staffed. Becoming an official is a great way to learn about swimming and it provides interested parents the opportunity to become more involved in the sport. Officials training can be done at any time via the "home school" program, so if you are interested in learning more, please contact the Officials Coordinator. .
Media Coordinator: Teresa Allen
The Media Coordinator is responsible for providing information about the club and the accomplishments of our swimmers to the local newspapers. The Media Coordinator also maintains the bulletin board at the pool and provides meet photos and recap information for the website. If you know of a swimmer who has been recognized in the local papers, or who ought to be recognized for an outside accomplishment, or if you have photos that could be posted on the website, please contact the Media Coordinator.
Social Coordinator: Lisa Cave
The Social Coordinator is responsible for planning team events such as team actitivies and summer trips to the beach or amusement parks such as Carowinds. Suggestions for team social activities should be directed to the Social Coordinator.
Away Meets Coordinator: Ann Hoersten
