Ackerman Pledges Commitment to Keiser U Seahawks

Athens, Ga - 12.23.2022

It will be an extra happy Holiday Season in the Ackerman household, as ABSC's own Austin Ackerman from the Senior 1 group has committed to continue his swimming and academic career at Keiser University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida! Upon committing to Keiser, Austin had the following to say in regards to his big annoucement:

  • "I am very blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Keiser University! I can't thank God enough for this opportunity. I'd also like to thank all my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for always pushing me to be my best. I'm ecstatic to be a part of this team and can't wait to call Florida home for the next 4 years! Go Seahawks!"

Austin is now the third swimmer in ABSC's 2022 graduating class to pledge his commitment to swim at the next level, following Olivia Dellatorre who has committed and signed with UGA, and Gavin Jones who has committed and signed with Villanova.

Austin is joining an already stacked roster that the Seahawks have in place. Both their men's and women's teams are currently ranked in the top 10 nationally at the NAIA level, and their men's team is currently ranked #1 in the nation!

Austin is a state qualifier at both the high school swimming (GHSA) and USA Swimming level. He recently competed with ABSC at the Senior State championships at Georgia Tech in early December, where Austin posted personal best times in every individual event. His best events are the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke, but he also excels in freestyle and IM events.

His top swims at Senior State included a time of 1:03.90 in the 100 breast and a 29.09 in the 50 breast, along with another lifetime best of 57.36 in the 100 IM.

After starting his swimming career with the Summer Hill Orcas, Austin switched over to ABSC in middle school. He had a brief stint in the Superpups with Coach Mike, moved on up to the Dawgs with Coach Jonathan, and has continued in Senior 1 throughout high school under Coach Harvey, former ABSC Coach Martin Grodzki, and current ABSC Senior 1 Coach Adam Sasso.

Austin is beloved around ABSC, and is a well-known institution on his summer league team (Commerce Tigersharks) and his High School Team (East Jackson High). We are so proud of you, Austin, and can't wait to see all that you accomplish. We know Austin's best swimming is still on the way.

Go Dawgs, and Go Seahawks!
