Meet Recap: Thanksgiving Invite Success in Spartanburg

November 12th - 14th, Spartanburg, SC.

This past weekend, ABSC swimmers and families traveled to Spartanburg S. Carolina for a invitational meet with the YMCA Spartanburg Sea Cukes! The Fightin' Cukes are a large team in the Spartanburg area, and they made for some great competition for ABSC.

ABSC traveled with a smaller roster for this away meet, bringing 67 swimmers from Pups through Senior 1 to the meet. While our team was considerably smaller than what the Cukes brought to the table, our ABSC swimmers made our presence felt in a huge way! We a substantial number of event winners and top three finishes across age groups, including the 11-12 boys headlined by Joey Rhine and Nakul & Vidur Karumbaiah, and the 15 & Over boys behind Simon Casey, Gavin Jones, and the rest.

The aforementioned Casey and Rhine seemed to battle it out for who could dominate their age group the most, with neither swimmer finishing lower than 2nd place in any single event. Casey ended up with 5 individual events - including a Junior National qualifying time in the 1000 freestyle Friday night, while Rhine ended up with 4 first place finishes.

Other individual event winners included: Olivia Dellatorre in the 15 & Over girls 200 breast 100 Fly, Sage Dennison with the 10 & Under 50 free, Will Foggin in the 15 & Over 200 Breast and 500 Free, Gavin Jones in the 15&Over 100 Freestyle, Nakul Karumbaiah in the 11-12 100 Breast and his brother Vidur in the 11-12 50 & 200 Breast, Garrett Kennedy in the 15&Over 100 Bk, Jack Kirkland in the 10&under 50 fly, Christopher Koch in the 13-14 1000 free, 200 IM and 200 Breast, and Kailey Teyner in the 13-14 girls 200 Breast. WOW!!!
